Multi-resolution Triangulation of Scattered Data taken by 3D scanner

چکیده
A method for multi-resolution triangulation of 3D scan data is presented. Multi-resolution leads to uniform approximation where the closeness to the 3D scan data can be controlled. The presented approach has two main phases: 1. Extraction of a coarse initial mesh as first approximation of the scan data using the Marching cubes algorithm; 2. Subdivision refinement strategy that iteratively leads to an uniform multi-resolution mesh approximation of the scan data.

Scene reconstruction from multi-scale input data
Geometry acquisition of real-world objects by means of 3D scanning or stereo reconstruction constitutes a very important and challenging problem in computer vision. 3D scanners and stereo algorithms usually provide geometry from one viewpoint only, and several of the these scans need to be merged into one consistent representation. Scanner data generally has lower noise levels than stereo metho...
متن کاملComparison of Pose Estimation Methods for a 3D Laser Tracking System using Triangulation and Programmetry Techniques*
In this paper, we compare the accuracy and resolution of a 3D-laser scanner prototype that tracks in real-time and computes the relative pose of objects in a 3D space. This 3D-laser scanner prototype was specifically developed to study the use of such a sensor for space applications. The main objective of this project is to provide a robust sensor to assist in the assembly of the International ...
متن کاملHigh-resolution Satellite Imagery: a Review of Metric Aspects
With the era of commercial high-resolution earth observation satellites having dawned with the launch in September, 1999 of Ikonos-2, it is imperative that there is an understanding in the photogrammetric and remote sensing communities of the full metric potential of high-resolution satellite line scanner imagery. This paper discusses the metric exploitation of 1m satellite imagery, and specifi...
متن کامل3D Laser Triangulation for Plant Phenotyping in Challenging Environments
To increase the understanding of how the plant phenotype is formed by genotype and environmental interactions, simple and robust high-throughput plant phenotyping methods should be developed and considered. This would not only broaden the application range of phenotyping in the plant research community, but also increase the ability for researchers to study plants in their natural environments....
متن کاملCultural Heritage 3d Reconstruction Using High Resolution Laser Scanner: New Frontiers Data Processing
We present applied examples of laser scanner survey and data processing using phase measuring system. Beside the time of flight principle, the phase measurement principle represents another technique for medium ranges laser survey. High speed of acquisition, very high data density and resolution open new application frontiers in cultural heritage, but poses challenging problems with regard to d...
